Apiari

The Project Apiari, promoted by the Riccagioia Foundation in collaboration with the Apicoltori Association, was created to promote beekeeping and contribute to the protection of biodiversity in the territory of Oltrepò Pavese.

The initiative is part of the Foundation’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration between local operators, and the sustainable development of the agro-food sectors.

Goal

The goal is to create a widespread network of apiari experimental farms, directly involving the agricultural companies of the area and introducing innovative monitoring and management systems. The project also aims to strengthen knowledge of the crucial role of bees in pollination, biodiversity, and the balance of ecosystems.

A network apiari on the territory

Currently there apiari are 10: 2 in Riccagioia (PV), 8 located in the Lombardy region in companies from the provinces of LC, BS, BG, MN and VA.

They apiari become veritable open-air laboratories dedicated to experimentation and the collection of information, but also to environmental outreach and awareness-raising activities.

Monitor and raise awareness

The network integrates innovative monitoring and management systems apiari, creating a shared model between the Foundation, beekeepers, and agricultural enterprises. The activities allow for the production of quality honey to be combined with the dissemination of knowledge on the topics of pollination, environmental sustainability, and the protection of ecosystems.
